Put Christ back in Christmas

Put Christ back in Christmas
By: Suprakash Saha

Here's a little article about Christmas that I wrote and would like to share. Today most of us have removed Christ out of 'Christ'mas. What do we do on Christmas Day???  We go to church and then come back home to exchange gifts, a hearty meal to feast on and so on.

We all know Jesus was born on this day and that's why we celebrate Christmas. Jesus was born to bring good news to the world. He brought the good news but are we carrying it on??? We are all set to preach but do our actions speak about the good news of Christ. We were not sent by God into this world just to excel in our professional lives but there's a purpose God has for us. In this constant struggle to win the race of life, we have forgotten that God wants us to do something more.

Let's look around and see the people who don't have a Christmas. A few days ago I heard about a home for HIV+ children who were abandoned by their parents. It made me think about what their Christmas would be like. While we are shopping for clothes, decorations and a million other things, what would they be doing??? Probably praying for a special gift to see another year or another Christmas. As brothers and sisters of Christ let's do something this year to bring back the Christ in 'Christ'mas. Bring a smile on someone's face, give a christmas meal to someone who doesn't have food etc. We buy so many gifts for people on Christmas, let's buy one for gift for someone who would never have expected a gift on Christmas. Let's continue the good news by our actions this year. While doing this we'll experience a special joy, a feeling of fulfillment and that's what we are here to do. Let's make a difference not only in our lives n but also in a strangers life. Remember they are also a part of our family.

I would like to conclude with this verse - " For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land." - Deuteronomy 15:11
